About D.R. Lewis
D.R. Lewis is a freelance theatre critic, writer and communications professional based in Washington, DC. He is a regular contributor to Washington City Paper and DC Theater Arts. His work has been published in The DC Line and DC Trending, among other outlets.
Lewis is the recipient of the 2024-2025 Helbing Fellowship, an award for emerging LGBTQ+ theatre writers from the American Theatre Critics/Journalists Association (ATCA) and Foundation ATCA. He is currently working to produce original criticism of the dramatic work of playwright Thornton Wilder.
He was a 2023-2024 Day Eight Arts Journalism Fellow and a member of the inaugural Day Eight New Theatre Critics Cohort.
A graduate of The George Washington University, he was the 2016 recipient of the Astere E. Claeyssens Prize in Playwriting.
